We are a team of researchers, scientists and academics, dedicated to the mission of harnessing the principles of thermodynamics and transforming engineering innovation into practical, industry-based solutions. We aim to advance research and education on clean transport by combining our simulation and testing expertise for all means of transport on the ground or in the water.
From our lab, for the world
Through the combination of state-of-the-art equipment, in-house and commercial simulation software, and the talent of our scientists, we conduct cutting-edge research in the areas of automotive, vessel and environmental engineering. We specialize in a diverse range of areas including thermodynamics, internal combustion engines, electrochemistry, pollution control technology, greenhouse gas reduction technologies in transport, optoacoustic spectroscopy, mass transfer phenomena, thermal processing and industrial refrigeration.
COURSES
The Laboratory supports courses in thermodynamics, internal combustion engines, electrochemistry, pollution control technology, greenhouse gas reduction technologies in transport, mass transfer phenomena, and special topics on thermal processing and industrial refrigeration. We also collaborate with other Laboratories for courses in Chemistry, Electric Machines & Electrotechnic, Energy Transforming Systems, and Experimental Methods in Energy Systems.
Our Laboratory supports diploma and PhD students, with an average of 5-10 diploma theses every year and 30 PhD theses in total since 1984.
LAT supports the following courses:
LAT also collaborates with other
laboratories in the following courses:
TESTING AND MODELING
We bring innovative engineering concepts to life.
Simulation, testing, and data analysis are important assets to our toolbox to support a plethora of services. Our expertise expands from fuel, engine, powertrain and exhaust testing, to aftertreatment solutions, software simulations, research and legislative consultancy and RDE. We also employ modeling tools to simulate complete exhaust lines with emphasis on emission control.
Making good use of our academic and scientific know-how, we empower industries with consultancy and training solutions on optimal environmental and operational vehicle performance.
Research trusted worldwide
From regulatory bodies to technology start-ups, our research activity is trusted by institutions, organizations, and industry stakeholders around the globe.
Our fields of research include electric powertrain/vehicle and battery/module testing and evaluation, life cycle assessment of energy carriers and power systems combinations, on-board measurement of pollutants, energy/power optimization algorithms policy/regulation impact assessment including energy and GHG projections, and many more.
